How To Make The Creamiest Almond Milk Recipe

In case you missed the memo, almond milk ain't almond milk! In fact, although it is pinned as a healthy alternative to dairy many commercially-bought almond milks contain nasty additives that may even cause cancer!

Luckily there's an alternative. Pull out the blender and go homemade. You just need a nut milk bag. Also, for best results, soak your almonds for 6-12 hours before the blend.

Almond Milk Recipe

  • Takes 5 minutes (not including the almond soak)
  • Makes 4 cups

  • Activated* almonds - 150g
  • Pitted dates - 80g
  • Vanilla - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Sea salt - pinch
  • Filtered water - 1L

  1. *Activate your almonds by placing them in an air tight container, with a pinch of salt and 200ml water, letting sit in a fridge for 6-8 hours
TIP: Water level should reach double the height of the almonds and if any nuts float to the top then throw them out
  2. Rinse with fresh cold water
  3. Combine your activated almonds and the rest of the ingredients in a blender
  4. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine-meshed ‘cheese cloth’ or nut milk bag with a wide rimmed bowl or jug below
  6. Store in an airtight jar or bottle in the fridge to keep fresh
  7. If stored correctly, this will last 4-5 days
