Morning Rituals from the Girls of Green Press

Ah mornings, how we love and hate you! With the cold weather still in full swing for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere getting out of bed in the morning is just that little bit harder. We decided to ask the Green Press Crew what they do to start the day before they head into the store to help you start yours!
You’ve heard how some of the male members of the Green Press Team start their day, now it’s time to hear from the ladies!

Healthy Morning Rituals

What does your morning routine look like?

Jo:

It depends what day of the week it is! If I’m working in the city I am up at 6.30, brush my teeth and do a headspace meditation. I then jump in the shower, have a cup of green tea and then jump on my bike to cycle in. I then have breakfast when I arrive at work and start my day!

Megan:

On work days my morning routine is a bit of a mad rush but I always make sure I start my day with a hot lemon water.

Maggie:

I usually only give myself only 30 mins to shower and get ready for work, but on the days I start work a bit later I try to go on a run. I always make sure to have breakfast and a green tea if I have time.

What’s your tip for ensuring you wake up fresh and bright?

Jo:

Water, water, water! I realised that the tired foggy feeling I get is because I am dehydrated sometimes, so I try and drink 3 Litres of water a day (this includes herbal teas). Getting enough sleep - my ideal is falling asleep at 10.30pm and getting up at 7.30am - that’s my body’s natural default and I feel GREAT when I let it do it’s thing!

Megan:

I can't go to bed feeling relaxed without a having chamomile tea, this helps me sleep so much better and I always wake feeling rested.

Maggie:

My best tip for waking up fresh is to get at least 8 hrs of sleep. There is no better feeling than being in bed at 9:30pm. At least while it's so cold.

What’s on your plate for a typical breakfast?

Jo:

Either pumpkin porridge with cinnamon and some Green Press cereal killer Granola, a smoothie with a healthy dose of spinach, berries, coconut water, and cashews, or eggs with avo - and maybe a cheeky bit of bacon or smoked salmon : )

Megan:

My standard breakie is smashed avo and lemon on gluten free toast and if I have the extra time I'll boil a few eggs. Accompanied by a side of green or peppermint tea.. I LOOVVEEEE TEA

Maggie:

My typical breakfast is a bowl of porridge. Loveee porridge.

Describe your perfect morning for us...

Megan:

Not waking up to an alarm, having a nice big home made breakie and smoothie and then heading out down the waterfront (in Port Melbourne, where I live) and going for a nice long walk to the workout station and doing a little circuit training.

Maggie:

My perfect morning would be a getting up early to go to the farmers market and then making breakfast at home with my partner whilst watching old Survivor episodes. And I would have found a ripe avocado.

Jo:

Wake up naturally with a cup of tea and the papers, a lazy bath listening to a podcast and then a gentle yoga class...bliss!
