Make This Nutella Smoothie; It's Actually Good For You

Chocolate and hazelnuts. As universally popular as any food combination. Like most people, I can eat Nutella by the spoonful. Or handful. I could probably get through a novelty size jar the size of my head.

But I would feel horrible afterwards. Take a look at the ingredients:


After the 13% hazelnuts and cocoa, you're body is going to have a meltdown trying to turn these 'foods' into energy. Vegetable oil is the second most dominant ingredient. The first is sugar. And skim milk and soy aren't any better. Plus multi-billion dollar Nestle are too tight to actually buy vanilla. Like most food companies they use vanillin, an artificial replica created by scientists in white lab coats.

No thanks.

But Nutella is delicious. So let's make a smoothie replica with real food. 

Nutella Smoothie Recipe

  • Takes 5 minutes
  • Makes 1 serving


  • Frozen banana - 1
  • Ice - 1/2 cup
  • Hazelnuts - 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa - 1 tablespoon
  • Pitted dates - 3
  • Vanilla paste - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sea salt - pinch
  • Almond milk - 1 1/2 cups
  • Hazelnut butter - 1 tablespoon (optional)


  • Blend until creamy
