Fibre dense foods are crucial to good health. They fill you up which prevents you from overeating and helps weightloss. And they help with digestion by acting as an intestinal broom (love that phrase :).
Some high fibre foods, like the banana and flaxseeds in this smoothie, are great prebiotics. They feed the probiotics, which nourish your colon cells and create a healthy digestive environment. Some authors suggest your gut is the difference between health and sickness.
So eat more fibre. And we're not talking about cereals and breads. Sure, you might find a rare product in your local grocer that is actually healthy but most of the time you see "fibre" it's a marketing packaging trick. Read all the ingredients, and even then, there's better ways to eat more fibre.
